IVC Audio Visual celebrates its 30th anniversary

AV/IT system integrator IVC Audio Visual is celebrating 30 years in business this month. Originally incorporated in 1993 as TCL Ltd, it’s name has evolved through Integrated Video Communications Ltd, IVC Ltd, IVC Media Ltd to today as IVC Technologies Ltd trading as IVC Audio Visual.

Starting at a time when the Pro-AV industry was transitioning from AV technology ‘out-of-a-box in-room’ type systems, to enterprise-wide networked projects, the company’s initial staff came from the cable TV industry, bringing with them a deep understanding of sound and vision distribution over local and wide area networks. This proved to be the cornerstone of interest to a number of our early customers who the business still proudly serves to this day.

With the rapid growth of both IVC and the AV industry, it soon became apparent that the business needed more trained AV engineers, a problem that still exists today. In the absence of any recognised AV engineer training facilities in the UK, IVC turned to the USA for help and soon became a member of the ‘International Communications Industries Association’ (ICIA) which in turn became ‘InfoComm International’ in 2005. ‘InfoComm’ subsequently evolved into the ‘Audiovisual and Integrated Experience Association’ (AVIXA) in 2017 with IVC quickly achieving ‘Diamond Level AV Solutions Provider’ accreditation.

IVC’s exciting and often challenging journey in the continuously evolving global AV industry has resulted in the receipt of multiple industry awards over the years including ‘Most inAVative Commercial Project (large)’ for our National Assembly Wales project in 2007; Crestron Integration Awards ‘Best Conference and Training Rooms’ in 2009; AV Awards ‘AV/IT Integrations of the Year’ in 2011 and ‘Tripleplay Top UK Integration Partner’ in 2018.

Over the past 30 years, IVC has been privileged to supply and install numerous high end complex AV projects, many incorporating both broadcast and IT technologies, into truly integrated systems. The company’s extensive range of high profile customers includes national broadcasters, governments, global financial services, international organisations, medical theatres, media companies and major sports venues.

In 2022, as a ‘thank you’ to the company’s loyal staff, IVC transitioned to an employee owned business making all the existing and future staff the owners of the company. With the retirement of founder Ray Harding last month and the appointment of a new Managing Director, the company is in good hands for its next 30 years.
