Plaza Auditorium Display Upgrade

Overview

IVC has a long-standing relationship with the Client and was recently awarded the project to replace the existing rear projection system in their main auditorium with a new 5m NEC FC009i-B LED screen, presentation switcher, and image processor.

Challenge

The challenge was to integrate the new solutions with the existing systems and fabric of the building. IVC collaborated with client and their audiovisual consultants, Hewshott, to develop the overall design, working closely with key stakeholders to ensure that the enabling work and supporting services were coordinated with the overall programme.

Solution

The LED screen is mounted directly to a series of heat-resistant boards attached to a floor-to-ceiling subframe. This subframe was reworked to align the new display with the existing opening and ensure it was flush with the existing wooden panels.

The LED screen is driven by a Barco Gen2 presentation switcher and Novastar processor, which receive the video feed directly from an existing Crestron DM matrix. Control is managed by a Crestron MC4 control processor. IVC worked with the client’s nominated programmer to update the existing Crestron code and touch panel interface.

Results

The project was completed in a short timeframe, taking a total of three weeks from the decommissioning stage through to final testing and commissioning. IVC provided on-site assistance during the first event to support the operators, and the auditorium has been in constant use since.
