Digital Poster Board at Pallant House Gallery

Pallant House Gallery, based in West Sussex, houses one of the most beautiful collections of 20th century British art in the world, and is always stimulating new ways of approaching modern British art from 1900 to the current day.

As a registered charity, Pallant House rely heavily on the support and generosity of Friends, Patrons and supporters to help them care for their collections, present an innovative range of exhibitions and maintain the pioneering work of their Community Programme.

In August 2019 the art gallery received a £92,910 grant of from the National Lottery Reaching Communities Fund. To build on the success of its award-winning Community Programme – engaging better with local communities – Pallant opted to put some of the funding towards digitally enhancing their reception area, in an effort improve the overall visitor experience and draw local communities into the iconic gallery.

The request by Pallant was a digital twist on the traditional “poster board” format for the gallery’s reception area. With this in mind we proposed a dynamic, dual functionality Video Wall solution, comprising of four screens – giving them the option of using the screens separately or as one large Video Wall, should they wish.

We partnered with Tripleplay – leading innovators in digital signage and IPTV software – to deliver the solution. Tripleplay is the perfect system to deliver impactful communications, wow factor advertisement displays, and more, within any organisation.

For this particular project the digital signage system will be used to display promotional content and offers created by Pallant House, fed to each individual screen in the reception area – with the ability to be swapped / changed at the click of the button by staff.  Resulting in an engaging and personalised welcoming space for visitors, whilst increasing audience interaction.

A unique challenge bought to light during the requirements capture stage was the limited space available behind the reception area. To resolve this, we sourced the slimmest displays and brackets on the market to ensure adequate space remained behind reception, ensuring no compromise was made to the “wow factor” Pallant House was trying to achieve.

Further to the environmental challenges, we also designed a bespoke control system to manage the Video Wall’s functionality and its unusual aspect ratio.

We also supplied an additional screen on a stand that allowed for landscape and portrait viewing, by simply pivoting the screen in the desired direction, depending on how they wanted to use it – perfect for added signage or to support during meetings.

The Communications Department at Pallant House Gallery are over the moon with their new Digital Signage Solution.

“Having just re-branded, we were looking for a digital display system for our Welcome Desk area which would allow us to be more flexible with our point of sale marketing whilst upgrading the look and feel of the entrance spaces. We needed a solution that would allow us to showcase the quality and diversity of our exhibition and events programmes, whilst creating a more impactful and impressive welcome for our visitors. The space was not without its challenges, and the team at IVC understood the limitations and worked within the boundaries. The screens have received very positive feedback from both colleagues and visitors. Thank you IVC!”
