Field Service and Commissioning Engineer Job Description

IVC is an Audio Visual integrator providing a variety of technical solutions across the UK and overseas. Our customers range from Premier League football clubs through to large international banks and Government organizations. Our systems are as diverse as digital signage, auditoria, large format LED displays, meeting room solutions and broadcast camera systems.

We are currently seeking a meticulous, deadline-oriented Field Service and Commissioning Engineer to enhance our technical support team. This role requires in-depth knowledge of AV, IT, and broadcast systems for troubleshooting, servicing, and commissioning installations at various client sites across the UK, with paid daily travel expenses.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Support & Maintenance

  • Deliver expert technical support to troubleshoot and resolve customer issues.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on AV, multimedia, IT, and broadcast systems, including physical repairs and software/firmware updates.
  • Manage service requests, update customers, and record service activities on customer and IVC portals via Microsoft Dynamics or similar ticketing systems.

Commissioning & Installation

  • Assist with commissioning and troubleshooting AV over IP, IPTV, multimedia, PA, and passive optical networks for ongoing projects.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to install new AV and communication systems, ensuring adherence to industry standards.

Documentation & Inventory Management

  • Support the Service Manager by maintaining accurate technical documentation, asset registers, and user manuals.
  • Monitor equipment performance and inventory to manage replacements for end-of-life (EoL) items.

Customer Interaction

  • Engage directly with clients to provide effective support, training, and system usage guidance.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, end-users, and internal teams to address and resolve service-related concerns.

Quality, Safety, and Security Compliance

  • Complete BPSS checks and other necessary certifications (CSCS, ECS, first aid, etc.).
  • Comply with security, health, and safety protocols, especially in sensitive environments such as banks, government offices, and stadiums, including:

Continuous Learning & Development

  • Attend workshops and manufacturer training to stay updated on AV, IT, and broadcast technologies.
  • Demonstrate a positive approach to role-based learning and identifying training needs.
  • Regularly propose improvements to technology processes and SLAs.

Requirements:

Education:

  • A minimum of 5x GCSE’s at grade C/4 or above, including Maths, English and a STEM subject
  • An associate’s degree in engineering or electrical technology would be desirable

Certifications:

  • Industry certifications such as Avixa CTS-D/I, CompTIA, or CCNA are advantageous.

Experience:

  • Previous experience in a similar role, ideally with knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics Service or similar ticketing systems.

Skills & Attributes:

  • Flexible and willing to work overtime when necessary.
  • Strong organisational, time management, and active listening skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure.
  • Proactive troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with a positive work ethic.

Additional Requirements:

  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel across the UK and internationally.
  • Ability to obtain necessary security clearances (DBS, CTC) for secure work environments.

Preferred but not essential:

  • Applicants ideally to be located in North West Kent/South East London

Working Environment:

This role will involve working from home and in diverse locations such as banks, offices, stadiums, and construction sites. Each environment may have specific safety and security requirements.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: £40,000.00-£45,000.00 per year
