Trainee AV Engineer

IVC is an Audio Visual integrator providing a variety of technical solutions across the UK and overseas. Our customers range from Premier League football clubs through to large international banks and Government organizations. Our systems are as diverse as digital signage, auditoria, large format LED displays, meeting room solutions and broadcast camera systems.

Although our main office is based in Yeovil, Somerset, this is an opportunity for a site based trainee Engineer working mainly in Central London, with paid daily travel expenses.

What we are looking for:

Due to an exciting stage of growth and development at IVC, we have a fantastic opportunity for x2 ambitious and enthusiastic individuals to start their career within the AV industry as Trainee AV Engineers.

You will start your training working on site as part of a team on multiple AV integration and installation projects, primarily within Government, Finance and Sports Stadia sectors. While no specific experience is required for this role (all training will be provided), an interest, hobby or past experience in mechanics, electrical engineering, plumbing, electronics or IT/technology would be advantageous. Your site based role will include:

· Installation of audio, video, control and network cables

· Neat looming and termination of installed cables

· Installation and termination of fibre optic cables

· Installation of bracketry and metalwork to design drawings

· Installation of technical furniture and large format displays

· Learning to read and understand the supplied design information

· Assisting in the first level of testing and commissioning

There will be occasions where you will work from the IVC workshop and rack building facility in Yeovil. All expenses will be covered while you are working away from home, and you will work with the rack builders carrying out the following:

· Manufacturing equipment rack power and signal cabling looms

· Installation of equipment into the equipment racks

· Setting up entire systems for offsite testing to be carried out

· Assisting in the first level of testing and commissioning off site

The ideal candidates will:

· Be looking to start a career within the Audio Visual industry

· Willing to work towards industry standard qualification as well as attending various training courses

· Have a flexible approach to working hours (weekend work/trips away may be necessary)

· Show initiative and have an excellent work ethic

· Have excellent communication skills, be methodical and have good problem solving skills

· A minimum of 5x GCSE’s at grade C/4 or above, including Maths, English and a STEM subject

· Demonstrate a record of continuous education or work

· Smart appearance and polite professional manner

· Comfortable working on site, including working at height, climbing ladders and working in confined spaces

Preferred but not essential:

· Relevant demonstratable work experience or hobbies advantageous

· Applicants ideally to be located in North West Kent/South East London

· BTEC/City and Guilds in mechanical/IT/Technical subject

· Hold a clean driving licence

As this is a trainee role, salary will meet at least the national minimum wage for your age group. The starting salary will not be lower than £20,000.
